Presbyterian’s hard-throwing righty still searching for traction in 2026
Carter Payne is a redshirt sophomore right-handed pitcher for Presbyterian whose 2026 profile shows an early-season workload that has been tough on the run prevention side, but his strikeout ability and size give him clear developmental upside. In 2026, he posted a 16.88 ERA over 2.2 innings with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks, a small sample that suggests command and consistency are still the swing skills. At 6'0" and 215 pounds, he brings a sturdy build and a pitcher’s frame that evaluators like to bet on if the stuff and strike-throwing continue to sharpen.
