ECU’s Young Tight End is a Name to Watch, but the Chart Says He’s Still Developing
Stephen Collier entered East Carolina as a tight end in the 2025 class and was listed as a freshman on the Pirates’ roster, with recruiting services rating him as a solid mid-pack in-state prospect; by 2026, ECU moved him to linebacker before fall camp, a strong sign the staff likes his toughness and versatility more than a narrow TE profile. In other words: he looks like a physical, coachable athlete with upside, but he’s not currently a proven receiving weapon at tight end, so he fits best with a program that values development, special-teams grit, and position flexibility.
