Ethan Gonzalez is a gritty, team-first catcher with a timely bat for Wichita State
In the 2026 season, Ethan Gonzalez gave Wichita State a tough, contact-driven presence behind the plate and at the bottom of the order, highlighted by a season-high five-hit game with two doubles and a home run in the American Championship semifinals. He’s been valued for the little things—executing sacrifices, working through lineup spots, and bringing a team-first mindset that coaches love from a catcher. If you want a reliable backstop who competes hard, handles situational baseball, and can chip in clutch offense, he’s a fit; if you’re looking for a pure power profile, he’s more grinder than slugger.
