Jake Downing brings left-handed contact, on-base skill, and steady infield value to Cal Poly
Downing is a reliable, left-handed infielder whose game is built on contact, plate discipline, and consistent on-base production. In the 2025 season at Cal Poly, he hit .316 with a .388 OBP and .461 SLG across 33 games, then in 2026 he’s been producing at a .270/.356/.397 clip over 245 plate appearances[1]. He also has a track record of showing up in big moments, including a productive summer with the Duluth Huskies and a go-ahead extra-innings homer, which suggests competitive toughness and situational confidence[3].
