veteran righty with a live arm, but the Cajuns never really got the sample size
In the 2026 season, Cowan Alfonso showed flashes in limited duty for Louisiana, striking out 3 in 1.1 innings while also issuing 5 walks across 3 relief appearances, a tiny workload that makes the line hard to trust either way[1][5]. The bigger story is context: the 6-foot-3 junior right-hander entered the transfer portal in late May 2026 and appears to be looking for a fresh start after bouncing from Centenary to Louisiana Christian to Louisiana[3][4][5]. If you need a low-mileage arm with experience and upside rather than proven weekend stability, he’s a buy-on-trajectory, not a finished product[3][5].
