High-upside Miami DL with edge-rushing juice and freshman-season flashes
McConathy entered Miami as a four-star-caliber edge presence and, in the 2024 season, played in nine games as a true freshman with one solo tackle, giving the Hurricanes a long, developmental defender at 6-5 and 250 pounds.[1] His best differentiator is the frame-and-motor combo: he already has the size to hold up on the edge, and his high-school production—16 sacks as a senior and 22 sacks as a junior—suggests real pass-rush upside if his snap count grows.[1] The fit is strongest for a team that can develop him patiently, because his value is more about projection, length, and disruptive traits than box-score volume right now.[1]
