Chris McCormack has become Evansville’s late-inning weapon with starter upside
In the 2026 season, McCormack emerged as a high-leverage force for Evansville, posting a 3.40 ERA over 42.1 innings and a 2.73 ERA in conference play while earning All-MVC Honorable Mention. He was the Purple Aces’ primary closer for much of Valley play, yet he also showed real starter traits: seven shutout innings against Valparaiso and a complete-game, 11-strikeout gem in the MVC Tournament. The selling points are poise, strike-throwing, and swing-and-miss stuff; the fit is a competitor who can shorten games or give you length when the team needs a heavyweight inning eater.
