Tyler Johnston brings legit strikeout upside and a power pitcher’s profile to Niagara
Tyler Johnston is a right-handed freshman RHP at Niagara with a classic starter’s frame at 6'0", 190 lbs and a delivery profile that has been described as electric, working from a high-three-quarter slot and sitting 84-87 mph with a top of 88 mph in pre-college scouting. In his high school career, he was a strikeout machine, including 155 K as a junior and 400-plus strikeouts by late April of his senior year, which says a lot about miss-bat stuff and competitive fire. The big question for Niagara: how quickly that swing-and-miss ability translates against college hitters.
