USC Upstate’s 6’4” RHP with Elite Length and Two-Save Clutch Factor Despite 2026 ERA Struggles
Juan Reyes, a 6’4”, 200-lb senior RHP for USC Upstate, stands out for his rare combination of elite length, a career-high 13 strikeouts in 2026, and clutch intensity—evidenced by two saves despite a 9.19 ERA. While his ERA reflects early 2026 struggles, Reyes’ differentiators include a .293 opponents’ batting average, a 3.0-inning season-long outing, and a personality marked by relentless focus and Spartan Army pride. He has no recent injury history (last IL stint was 2023), and his intensity level is top-tier. Reyes is a strong fit for teams needing a tall, strikeout-capable righty with save experience and high-intensity mentality, especially if they can support his development through ERA volatility. Why care? He’s a data-driven, length-first pitcher with real-game saves and a career-high strikeout burst—traits that transcend raw ERA stats.
