Aídan Gonzalez brings strikeout flashes and versatile value to USD’s staff
In the 2026 season, San Diego right-hander Aídan Gonzalez has been a useful bullpen arm, logging a 6.62 ERA with 22 strikeouts in 17.2 innings while appearing in 18 games and starting none, and he’s shown brighter stretches too—USD notes four scoreless outings and back-to-back multi-strikeout appearances in April 2026. He looks like a competitive, contact-management pitcher whose value comes from toughness, relief flexibility, and the ability to miss bats in short bursts rather than pure overpowering velocity, which makes him a practical fit for teams needing a gritty innings-eater with upside.
