Cal Schembra burst onto the scene as Valpo’s freshman spark plug
In the 2026 season, Cal Schembra turned heads immediately for Valparaiso, starting all 50 games, hitting .262 with 7 home runs and a team-best 33 RBI while flashing impact bat-to-ball ability and power from the left side. He was named MVC Freshman of the Week after opening with a .500 weekend, and reports highlighted a diving catch plus a heads-up double play, showing he brings energy and competitiveness on both sides of the ball. If you want a young infielder with pop, toughness, and early production, he’s a pretty intriguing fit.
