Freshman RHP Sean McGrath is already a midweek weapon for Cal Poly
In the 2026 season, Sean McGrath has shown real upside for Cal Poly: he earned multiple wins, worked deep into starts, and delivered a five-inning, six-strikeout shutout effort against Santa Clara while also posting a first collegiate victory with five scoreless innings versus San Jose State. He’s a 6-foot-1 freshman right-hander with a low-effort, rhythmic delivery and a pitch mix that keeps hitters uncomfortable; local coverage praised his ability to mix pitches and neutralize left-handed lineups. If you want a young arm with polish, strike-throwing, and room to grow, he’s very much worth caring about.
