Noah Rooney gives Notre Dame a steady lefty with strikeout feel and bullpen versatility
In the 2026 season, Rooney logged 24 appearances, 45.2 innings, 40 strikeouts, and only 14 walks, which says a lot about his strike-throwing and poise in leverage spots.[1] His standout differentiators are a usable left-handed profile, multi-inning relief value, and the kind of consistency that showed up in 19 outings with at least one strikeout; he also flashed a season-high six strikeouts against Boston College.[1] He entered Notre Dame after a strong 2025 at Minnesota, where he posted a 2.94 ERA in 22 appearances, so the fit is a veteran arm who can stabilize innings and keep games from getting messy.[1][2]
