Eric Winters is Auburn’s rising run-stopping safety with early SEC production
Eric Winters flashed immediately in 2025, playing all 12 games, starting once at safety, and finishing as Auburn’s leading freshman tackler with 33 stops, 2.0 tackles for loss, and a sack. His calling card is downhill physicality in run support—PFF graded him as the SEC’s top run defender among freshmen—and he already showed he can handle SEC competition with multiple-impact games. For a team, he looks like a tough, high-motor strong safety who brings reliability, violent tackling, and room to grow in coverage.
