Dane Grant is a projectable lefty with upside and polish beyond the box score
Grant’s 2026 debut season at UC Irvine shows a developing starter in progress: a 5.24 ERA over 22.1 innings with 25 strikeouts and 14 walks, which points to swing-and-miss ability but also some command refinement still needed.[1] The bigger appeal is his profile and background—he was a Perfect Game-prep ranked left-hander, logged a solid summer in the Alaska Baseball League (3.14 ERA in 14.1 innings), and brings a coachable, high-work-rate vibe with engineering ambitions, teaching pitching lessons, and strong family ties to college baseball.[2] For a team, that reads as a lefty with upside, competitiveness, and maturity if you can help sharpen the strike-throwing.
