LMU’s Godwin Okonji: old-school frontcourt grinder with serious glass-eating chops
Godwin Okonji was a rugged 6-foot-8 forward for Loyola Marymount whose calling card was rebounding, efficiency around the rim, and a high-motor, physical style that showed up in the box score and the film. In his senior season in 2014-15, he averaged 7.3 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting 40.8% from the field, and he finished his LMU career ranked among the program’s all-time leaders in rebounds, blocks, and field-goal percentage. He also battled through a medical redshirt and a leg injury after a car accident, which adds a little “tough as nails” context to his profile.
