In the 2025 season, Michael Short was a useful, active LB for Virginia Tech, posting 21 tackles, 1 sack and 1 pass breakup in just four games before redshirting and entering the transfer portal.[2][3][12] At 6-foot-3 and about 226 pounds, he brings size, tackling range and some special-teams value, and earlier reports noted strong PFF grades in his UNC days plus a high motor that made him a reliable rotational piece.[9][11] If you want a tough, experienced linebacker with proven production and eligibility left, he’s a credible fit—just note he’s already been in the portal and is no longer on the Hokies’ roster.[1][8]
