Power-Hitting C/3B with NEC Rookie of the Week Honors
Mackenzie Gillis, Mercyhurst’s 5'6" sophomore C/3B, is a high-intensity power hitter who delivered a 3-run homer in 2026 and earned NEC Rookie of the Week honors. Her differentiators include elite bat speed (73.1 mph), 69 mph exit velocity, and a 56 mph throw—rare for a catcher. She plays with relentless intensity, shows strong personality under pressure, and has no injury history. While Mercyhurst struggled (9-34 in 2026), Gillis stood out with a .286 BA and 2 RBI in key games. She’s a great fit for teams needing a versatile, power-capable defender who can anchor the infield or lead offensively.
