Mercyhurst freshman RHP Heath Betza is a high-upside arm still finding his footing
In the 2026 season, Heath Betza has flashed bat-missing upside for Mercyhurst but has also battled command and damage in limited work, posting an ERA in the mid-20s with 5 strikeouts across 8.2 innings in one stat line and a relief profile that suggests swing-and-miss potential if the strike zone sharpens. He’s a freshman right-hander from Erie, Pa., which gives him local familiarity and room to grow; the fit case is simple: if your staff can polish his control, Betza could become a useful bullpen arm with some bite.
