Derek Wacker is a rising Nebraska depth piece who already flashes on special teams
In the 2025 season, Wacker has played in every game as a key special teams contributor and has already shown a nose for impact plays, including a forced fumble on defense against Houston Christian and multiple kickoff-coverage tackles. Nebraska lists him as a redshirt freshman linebacker who also brings a strong high-school résumé at Yutan, where he was productive on both sides of the ball, and his appeal is his physical, high-effort, do-everything profile rather than raw box-score volume. He looks like the kind of tough, versatile fit coaches trust early.
