veteran DB brings grown-man experience to Purdue’s secondary
Crew Wakley entered Purdue in 2025 as an experienced, older defensive back with a real résumé from BYU and a reputation for toughness, football IQ, and steady run support. In 2025, he appeared in Purdue’s first four games, recorded nine tackles, and added a pass breakup and a tackle for loss before leaving the program midseason; he had also logged 44 tackles, two interceptions, and a sack for BYU in 2024. The fit question is simple: when healthy and engaged, he looks like a dependable, physical communicator in the back end, but his short Purdue stint and injury interruptions add some risk.
