Jamal Frilot brings length, upside, and edge-rushing juice to UTEP
A former three-star prospect from Houston’s Dekaney HS, Jamal Frilot entered UTEP with a reputation for playmaking: as a senior in 2024 he logged 53 tackles and 9.0 tackles for loss, and earlier posted 54 tackles, 9.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks, and an interception in 2023. He’s a long, athletic defender at roughly 6-3/230 who showed up as a physical disruptor, but his current college impact is still hard to grade because publicly available 2026 game stats are sparse. If you want a high-upside linebacker/edge hybrid with real backfield pop and development runway, Frilot is the kind of “bet on the traits” pickup worth watching.
