Walt Andrews Jr. brings size, defense, and upside to NJIT’s backcourt
In the 2024-25 season, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound freshman guard averaged 3.3 points and 1.9 rebounds in 13 games before a knee injury ended his year in December, but NJIT clearly valued his physicality, defensive edge, and ability to handle either guard spot. He was ranked among Connecticut’s top-10 prospects in high school and was described by coach Grant Billmeier as an elite defender who fits an aggressive two-way style. For a team needing toughness, length, and room to grow, Andrews is the kind of flyer worth betting on.
