Matt Deutsch brings pop, polish, and a veteran catcher’s edge to SLU
In the 2026 season, Matt Deutsch entered Saint Louis as a junior catcher after a strong Saddleback run that included a .285 average, .395 on-base percentage, and three homers in 2023, followed by a championship pedigree on Saddleback’s 2024 state title team[1][2]. SLU’s 2026 notes also show he’s already impacting games with extra-base power, including a solo homer early in the season and multiple run-producing swings, while his profile suggests a compact, experienced backstop who can handle the grind behind the plate and add sneaky offense[4][6][8].
