Charlie Hoagland is a lefty depth arm at ECU with real strikeout ability, but command is still the separator
In the 2026 season, Hoagland has worked 23.2 innings for East Carolina with a 5.32 ERA, 22 strikeouts and 11 walks, which shows a pitcher who can miss bats but still has room to sharpen his consistency.[1] The biggest differentiator is the left-handed profile plus an ability to compete in multiple roles; he made 20 appearances for ECU and also led innings and strikeouts in summer ball, a sign coaches trust his arm to take the ball often.[1][3] He looks like a fit for a staff that values versatility and strike-throwing upside more than polished dominance right now.[1][6]
