Trey Higgins brings switch-hit pop, speed, and a real comeback buzz to Samford
Higgins enters 2026 as a 6-foot-4 senior outfielder who can impact a game from both sides of the plate, with Samford noting he’s a speedy bat with power from both sides after hitting .366 with 12 homers and 10 steals at Snead State. In the 2025 season at Samford, he posted a .258 average with a .941 OPS, 9 home runs, 29 RBI, 12 steals, and a .408 OBP, and he flashed big-game juice with a grand slam and 7 RBI in one March win. Samford also said he looked especially sharp in 2026 preseason practice after an injury-plagued year, which makes him a high-upside, low-risk fit for teams that value athletic, switch-hitting corner outfielders.
