Jake Jakubowski is a high-usage UIC bullpen arm who pounds the zone
Jakubowski’s calling card is reliability: in the 2026 season, he led UIC with 29 appearances, worked 34 innings entirely in relief, and kept the bullpen busy as a graduate-student righty[4]. His results were uneven, with a 7.41 ERA, but he showed usable strike-throwing and multi-inning flexibility, plus enough trust from the staff to handle the team’s most frequent relief role[1][4]. He looks like a fit for a team that values experienced bullpen depth, competitive toughness, and a pitcher who can absorb innings without needing starter-level usage[4][5].
