young Oakland righty with starter’s size, but still finding the strike zone
In the 2026 season, Oakland freshman RHP Will Paxson has shown the kind of frame evaluators like — 6'2", 199 lbs — and he’s already been trusted in multiple starts, but the results have been uneven as he works through Big Ten-level? no—Horizon League? actually Oakland’s tough nonconference slate and league play. His 2026 line shows a 18.44 ERA in limited innings, with 14.2-ish innings, 14+ hits allowed, and more walks than strikeouts, so the headline is clear: raw arm, but command remains the separator. If your team wants upside and arm strength over immediate polish, he’s intriguing; if you need instant reliability, patience is required.
