Destan Burks is already a middle-of-the-order spark for NM State
In the 2026 season, Destan Burks has flashed real impact for New Mexico State as a freshman utility player, including a Conference USA Freshman of the Week nod after torching UTEP by going 5-for-8 with three home runs and seven RBI over the series. She’s shown the kind of pop that changes a game fast, with timely homers against rivals and clutch extra-base hitting that plays in pressure spots. Add in her defensive versatility and run-producing upside, and she looks like a high-energy fit for a program wanting a confident, momentum-swinging bat.
