EIU's Junior LHP Dominates with Elite Relief Control and Academic Drive
Mac Zawistoski, the 6'1" junior left-hander for Eastern Illinois, is a data-driven standout who anchored EIU's 11-6 win by holding Butler to one run in the first five innings, showcasing elite control in relief roles since March 2024[1]. His differentiators include a fierce intensity level and a rare dual-threat profile as an Academic All-Pacific West Conference scholar from his 2024 freshman year at Chaminade, where he struck out 17 in 20 2/3 innings across 14 relief appearances[2]. With a 6'1", 200-lb frame and a proven ability to deliver under pressure, he is an ideal fit for teams needing a reliable, high-intensity LHP who combines statistical dominance with intellectual discipline[4][5]. You should care because he offers more than stats: a personality defined by academic excellence and a relentless competitive fire that elevates any pitching staff.
