Brandon Luu is a polished lefty with starter upside for UC Irvine
Brandon Luu is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound redshirt sophomore left-hander for UC Irvine who entered 2026 with a track record of poise, command, and pitchability. In 2024, he went 5-1 with a 4.09 ERA in 44 innings, and UCI said in 2024 that he joined the weekend rotation and had been “flawless” early, allowing one run over 11 innings before returning from Tommy John in 2026. His differentiators: left-handed strike-throwing, three-pitch command, and a calm, winner-type profile. If your team needs a mature, competitive starter with upside and feel, he’s a very sensible fit.
