Veteran Western Illinois forward brings efficient finishing and steady interior defense
James Claar’s best recent college stat line came in the 2019-20 season, when he led Western Illinois in field-goal percentage at .587 and posted a team-best 0.7 blocks per game, giving the Leathernecks a low-drama, high-efficiency frontcourt piece. He’s the kind of forward coaches like because he finishes cleanly around the rim, rebounds his area, and provides dependable size at 6-foot-8 without needing the ball to be a usage monster. If you want a rugged, reliable big who does the dirty work and doesn’t try to be the headline, Claar fits the bill.
