Joseph Smoyer

Columbia’s high-motor 6-11 rim protector with proven shot-blocking touch

Joseph Smoyer is a **6-11 forward/center** who gives Columbia real size, physicality, and a clear defensive identity: in his 2019-20 season he averaged 2.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks in 10.2 minutes, and later at Saint Joseph’s in 2021-22 he led the Pacific West Conference with 39 blocks while averaging 5.3 points and 4.3 rebounds. He has a history of finishing efficiently around the rim and protecting the paint, but his profile is more about role-value than star usage; the big question is health and availability, since he also missed the end of his 2016-17 season with a knee injury.
