Ryan Fontaine is NAU’s high-effort utility back with real game-changing juice on special teams
Fontaine enters 2026 as a redshirt junior who has carved out value beyond a box-score role: in 2025 he appeared in all 12 games, logged 41 carries, scored his first career rushing touchdown, and famously blocked and returned a punt 20 yards for a TD against Idaho. He’s also a three-time Golden Eagle Scholar-Athlete and two-time Big Sky All-Academic selection, which tells you the motor and reliability are real. If you want a physical, assignment-sound back who can contribute on offense and tilt hidden yardage, he’s a legit fit.
