FIU’s lefty with swing-and-miss upside and bullpen versatility
Mecchella brings real relief value: in the 2025 season at Saint Leo, he appeared in 16 games, went 3-5 with two saves, and struck out 44 batters over 47.1 innings, even with a 7.04 ERA. He also showed some pedigree before college, posting a 1.15 ERA and 70 strikeouts as a high school senior, plus second-team All-State honors. The draw here is the arm-side utility—a left-handed pitcher who can handle multiple bullpen roles and miss bats. If you want a projectable, competitive arm with some strikeout juice, he’s worth a look.
