IU Indy's Top Defender with High-Intensity Guard Play
Mason Archie II, a 6'5" guard for IU Indianapolis, stands out as the team's top defender despite modest scoring averages (4.9 PPG in 2025-26), driven by relentless intensity and a defensive mindset that statistics alone can't capture. With 25 starts in 32 games, he brings a gritty, battle-tested presence from his Davidson senior year (18 PPG, top-25 scorer in Indianapolis) and a 2016 graduation, making him a high-fit, low-risk addition for teams prioritizing defensive versatility and intensity over flash. His 35.6% FG and 30.2% 3P% reflect shooting limitations, but his defensive reputation and intensity level make him a reliable, hard-nosed guard who elevates team culture.
