Washington’s top in-state edge flips into a trench-wrecker
Derek Colman-Brusa arrives at Washington as a big, high-ceiling defensive lineman with real pop: in his 2025 high school junior season at Kennedy Catholic, he logged 68 tackles, 30 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, three forced fumbles and three blocked extra points, showing rare backfield disruption and motor. He was widely regarded as the No. 1 prospect in Washington and a four-star edge rusher, but the bigger story is his fit—Washington is already molding him from edge into an interior defender, where his length, power and quickness could make him a nasty Big Ten problem.
