Freshman RHP Otto Espinoza has emerged as a high-upside arm for Cal
Espinoza has already flashed real swing-and-miss stuff for California, highlighted by a career-high 9 strikeouts over 6 innings in March 2026 and a season profile that has drawn Freshman Midseason All-American recognition from Perfect Game. He entered Cal as a decorated Huntington Beach High product and 2025 Sunset League Pitcher of the Year, which points to a competitive, polished feel rather than a raw project. For a team, the appeal is a right-handed starter with strikeout ability, mound competitiveness, and room to keep climbing.
