320-pound run-stopper whose 2026 season is gone before it started
In the 2026 season, Mississippi State DL Colin Coates entered camp as a 6-2, 320-pound redshirt junior with SEC size and some flashes of disruptive value, including 14 tackles, a fumble recovery, and a QB hurry during his 2024 Charlotte season. He transferred to Mississippi State ahead of 2025, but back-to-back injuries have wiped out his first two seasons in Starkville, including a torn muscle that ended his 2026 season before it began. The appeal is the body type and interior power; the question is durability, which is the whole ballgame here.
