Pepperdine’s Arnold Wu brings strike-throwing upside, but his 2026 freshman season was a grind
In the 2026 season, Pepperdine right-hander Arnold Wu logged 18 appearances and one start, posting an 8.41 ERA, 1.72 WHIP, 13 strikeouts, and 9 walks over 20.1 innings, which suggests a live arm that is still settling in at the college level[1]. He’s a 6-foot-1, 207-pound sophomore from Taipei and came in with a strong prep track record and a fastball that previously sat in the mid-80s, so the appeal is the frame, arm strength, and development runway rather than instant dominance[1][2].
