Columbia’s steady shot-creator and late-game shot-maker
In the 2025-26 season, Meechie Johnson was South Carolina’s engine: he started all 32 games and led the Gamecocks in scoring (17.2 points per game), assists (4.3), and steals (1.3), while showing real clutch juice with a deep game-winner against Ole Miss. He’s a crafty 6-foot-2 guard who can carry stretches offensively, get downhill, and create for others, but his fit is more “lead guard who needs usage” than plug-and-play spacer. The big-picture note: he’s battled a long college journey and returned to Columbia for a second stint, which says a lot about his toughness and comfort in pressure moments.
