Cooper Buffington brings size, versatility, and room to grow on Montana’s defensive front
Buffington enters the 2026 season as a 6-foot-4, 275-pound sophomore DL for Montana, and the buzz is about his frame, multi-sport toughness, and upside more than box-score volume.[14][7] He was a decorated high school two-way lineman and early reports from Montana camp suggest he’s part of the Grizzlies’ defensive-line rotation battle, which is a good sign for a young interior/edge body with power potential.[12][14] If a team wants a physical, high-motor developmental lineman who can add depth now and maybe pop later, he looks like a solid fit.
