UNCW's Assist Maestro Turned Pro Standout with 6.7 APG Vision
Kai Toews, the 6'2" Japanese guard, lit up UNCW as a freshman on the 2019-20 CAA All-Rookie Team, setting a conference single-season assists record in the quarterfinals; now in his 2025-26 international pro season with Alvark Tokyo, he's averaging 7.9 PPG, 2.4 RPG, and a dazzling 6.7 APG (ESPN stats). His elite playmaking, international pedigree with Japan NT (3.5 APG career FIBA avg), and crafty scoring (e.g., 19-pt gem vs. Changwon LG) make him a floor general who elevates teams—perfect fit for squads needing a high-IQ, pass-first leader with zero injury red flags.
