durable 6-foot-5 starter with big-game stuff and a workhorse frame
Avery Laine has been one of LMU’s most important arms, going 5-1 with a 4.81 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 67.1 innings in the 2025 season, then opening 2026 as a Sunday starter and continuing to take on heavy innings loads[3][9][13]. What makes him interesting isn’t just the size—he’s a 6'5", 225-pound righty with a left-handed bat, he can miss bats, and he’s shown grit in long outings, including a seven-strikeout win and a five-inning gut-it-out performance that helped LMU avoid a sweep in 2026[5][7].
