Ben Tanton emerging as a high-impact freshman arm for Old Dominion
Ben Tanton has quickly shown he can miss bats and control games: in 2026 league play, he went 6-0 with a 1.08 ERA, two shutouts, one save, and a 0.92 WHIP, earning NCBWA Second Team Freshman All-American honors. Beyond the numbers, his value is versatility and poise—he worked both as a starter and in relief, and Old Dominion lists him as a right-handed pitcher with a strong multi-sport background from Vestal High School. If you want a young arm with swing-and-miss upside, late-game flexibility, and proven results under pressure, he fits the profile. [1][2]
