high-upside Florida arm trying to turn elite stuff into consistent outs
In the 2026 season, Florida right-hander Christian Rodriguez was a redshirt sophomore in the Gators bullpen, but he logged only three appearances and 1.1 innings while battling command and results after returning from Tommy John surgery.[1][2][4] The reason to care: when Rodriguez is right, the stuff plays like a late-inning weapon—he showed real bite in summer ball, won the 2025 Cape Cod League Al Graeber Outstanding Pitcher Award, and was widely viewed as a potential closer candidate because of his strike-throwing upside and ability to finish innings efficiently.[7][11][13]
