steady Salukis bullpen arm with strike-throwing chops
In the 2025 season, Dylan Petrey was a reliable right-handed bullpen piece for Southern Illinois, logging 22 appearances, a 4-3 record, 4.22 ERA, and 47 strikeouts over 49 innings while showing command and durability. He also gave up just 12 extra-base hits, a good sign that opposing lineups weren’t squaring him up consistently. Petrey’s appeal is the combo of strikeouts, bullpen flexibility, and a proven track record—he arrived after a strong junior-college run and was later recognized as an MVC Scholar-Athlete, which says a lot about his competitiveness and consistency.
