Jeff Otchere brings elite rim protection to UTRGV
Otchere is a true defensive specialist: the 6-foot-11 forward was the 2018-19 America East Defensive Player of the Year at Stony Brook, where he ranked 16th nationally in blocks and finished fifth in program history with 49 blocks and 1.49 blocks per game in that season.[5][2] He also led the nation in blocks at Garden City CC as a freshman, which signals a consistent shot-altering presence at every level.[8] Offensively he is more limited, so his value is mainly as a high-motor rim protector and interior anchor who fits best with teams needing size, rebounding and paint deterrence.[4][1]
