Davis Kern brings pro-size, two-way upside to SDSU's front line
Davis Kern, a 6-9 redshirt freshman forward for South Dakota State, arrives with a high-floor, high-upside résumé: he was a four-year Linn-Mar standout, a two-time Gazette-Area Player of the Year, and a senior-year monster at 22.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.2 blocks per game. He looks like a fit if you want size, rebounding, shot-blocking and a forward who can score inside and stretch out, but he’s still early in his college development, so the key question is how quickly his polished prep production translates to the Summit League level.
