JJ Dervil brings length, range, and a proven newcomer impact to UNI’s secondary
In the 2024 season, JJ Dervil emerged as an immediate difference-maker for Northern Iowa, earning MVFC All-Newcomer honors after appearing in all 12 games and logging 63–64 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and a team-high five pass breakups.[1][3] At 6-foot-3 with reported athletic testing of a 4.53 40-yard dash, a 36-inch vertical, and a 10-foot-2 broad jump, he looks like a long, disruptive DB who can cover ground and challenge throws at the catch point.[1][6] The appeal is simple: he already produced like a starter, and the size/speed profile gives him real upside in a physical, zone-heavy fit.[1][5]
